When I look at the revolution unfolding in front of me, I am filled with joy and untapped glee. This is our time, this is our moment, and no more silence until “free” really means to be FREE. Free from racial profiling, free from hate crimes, free from structures of oppression. Just plain ole free. People are distraught by the protest and suggest that our anger should not be demonstrated. Screw those people. When I seen my people looting I rejoiced, when I saw the burning I was proud, when I saw my people fighting back I knew it was time.
You see people focus on the negative aspect of protesting and suggest that we protest in peace. But they neglect to reflect on the moment that led us to this point. They neglect to recognize the countless innocent men who didn’t get a chance to prove they were innocent because the police decided to be judge, juror, and executioner. They neglect to recognize the communities the government built to keep us impoverished, hooked on drugs, and forced into gangs. They neglect to understand that the jails they built for justice is a cover up for modern day slavery. Imprisoning more innocent people because of biased racially charged jury members who see us as guilty no matter the compelling evidence that proves our innocence. They neglect to consider the years of segregation and the trauma of being segregated. The Jim Crow laws, the KKK, and any other racist organization that burned, looted, and killed us for being black. They neglect to recognize that the 400 years of slavery was the worst genocide this world has ever had to endure. They remember the Holocaust but don’t understand that Hitler followed in their footsteps and used their literature to help establish the horrible conditions of the Holocaust.
So when they say why can’t we be peaceful? Why don’t we stop being violent? Why don’t we give in and take what we can get. I just laugh and say why didn’t you? Why didn’t you treat the native’s as owners of a wealthy land but instead pillaged and killed their people? Why did you enslave Africans when you could have done the manual labour? Why did you manipulate the Indians and Asians when the Africans refused to do your dirty work? You don’t have the answer do you? Well I do.
You did all of this because you feel you are superior and shouldn’t be held accountable for the actions of people of the past. Yet you don’t consider this when you reap the harvest of your ancestor’s cruelty. You ask us to be peaceful but your history is filled with murder and destruction. All we are asking is for you to understand that we are human and we deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. When we say BLACK LIVES MATTER we are not suggesting that other lives don’t. When we say BLACK LIVES MATTER we are telling the oppressor who continuously strives to kill, ridicule, and oppress us that our lives matter. We aren’t saying don’t arrest someone who is considered engaging in criminal activity. We are saying give them a chance to prove their innocence and treat them with respect and dignity. But you don’t care about what we are asking for because when we say BLACK LIVES MATTER all you respond with is ALL LIVES MATTER. So now tell me… if all lives matter why are indigenous people stuck on reserves and have less access each year to the land that is their own? If all lives matter, why are Mexicans being treated like illegal immigrants, when most of the land they return to was theirs to begin with? If all lives matter why are Asians racially profiled anytime there is a virus that proves to be deadly? If all lives matter why are people all around the world suffering from war, drought, and inability to progress? You don’t really mean all lives matter. What you truly mean is WHITE LIVES MATTER, and more specifically RICH WHITE LIVES MATTER because we know you don’t claim your poor white people or your redneck friends. All you care about is the white lives that produce wealth from the people who they marginalize and oppress. When you shout ALL LIVES MATTER what your really shouting is that WHITE LIVES MATTER more than making BLACK LIVES a priority in making us equal and not subject to ridicule and pain.
So when everyone is appalled and angry by the protest and the looting I rejoice, because we are drowning out the voices of the ignorant who scream ALL LIVES MATTER to cover up their true intent that they think that only WHITE LIVES MATTER. If you’re a minority and you are confused and agree with these ALL LIVES MATTER protest, turn the page to any year in history and you will surely see that your life didn’t matter to them when they were oppressing you, it only matters now cause your ignorance helps drowns out the true message that BLACK LIVES and ALL MINORITY LIVES MATTER. In a country that built it success on all of our backs, that has an American Dream meant only for the White and well off, it is time for change. ALL LIVES DO MATTER, but not more than BLACK LIVES, if you murder and kill us senselessly. Do not overreact when we destroy and reclaim what we built it is ours to destroy. Whatever gets damaged it was never going to truly be ours, so fight on in this mighty fight. I support my people every step of the way. So when you hear us shout BLACK LIVES MATTER stand with us, stand tall, and recognize that we aren’t doing this just for us, but for all who have been tired of the horrible treatment from people who shout LAND OF THE FREE when we know this is the land of the oppressed and until we claim what is ours we will never be FREE
